Water for Life (Kampong Speu) project is a partnership between the SIF, Sao Sary Foundation and Ngee Ann Development. This is SIF’s most comprehensive WFL project whereby Health, Environment, Livelihood and Social components were included into the project design to support the holistic development of the community.
The SIF signature project aims to provide 30,500 villagers in Cambodia with convenient access to clean drinking water through the installation of bio-sand filters (BSFs), borehole wells and latrines. The multi-sectorial project will increase the capacity of communities to adopt improved health and hygiene practices through basic hygiene training, feminine hygiene training and first aid training. Improved healthcare services and facilities are also facilitated through the construction of a community hall and refurbishment of two health centres.
The project was supposed to complete in March 2016. However, a decision was made in September 2016 to extend the project by another 6 months from November 2016 to April 2017.
