Alfa Romeo, proving that more power is a good thing, offered the Giulietta Spider Veloce beginning with the 1956 model year. Veloce, appropriately, translates to fast in Italian. The Type 750F engine was enhanced to 90hp (10 more than standard models) thanks to an updated twin choke Weber 40 DCOE2 carburetor, 9:1 compression, new design cylinder head, 9mm valve stems, and bigger diameter main journals on the crankshaft. A limited number, with chassis numbers from AR1495F07501 to AR1495F07612, were sent to the U.S. in 1960, including this example. In total, Alfa Romeo built 14,300 Giulietta Spiders and an additional 2,796 Veloce Spiders between 1956 and 1961. A 109mph top speed was claimed by the factory. Alfa Romeo factory records indicate Chassis No. 07582 to be configured as a left-hand drive Spider in full 750F Veloce trim. It was completed on March 7, 1960 and dispatched to Hoffman Motor Car Co. in New York, New York. While the original owner remains unknown, it was acquired in January 1962 by legendary Orlando, Florida radio DJ, William Weird Beard Vermillion, Jr. While working at WLOF AM radio in the 1960's and 1970's, Vermillion is credited for promoting and popularizing Van Morrison's Brown-Eyed Girl single to the Top-40 list in 1967. Copies of his initial temporary registration from 1962 along with various Florida registrations remain with the car.It was purchased by a subsequent owner in 2009 having been in long-term storage. Despite being complete, the car was in need of restoration. It was entrusted to MAS Restorations of Las Vegas, Nevada, which over the next five years, completed a concours level restoration to exceptional standards. Taken down to bare metal, the body was refinished in epoxy primer on top of which the original Rosso Chiaro color in single-stage urethane paint was applied. The interior was correctly reupholstered in its original colors of cream leather with red piping and red carpets using the originals as patterns to ensure authenticity. An in-dash Motorola AM radio and the original tools and books are included. Mechanically, the entire drivetrain was rebuilt - the top end by Norm Racing and the bottom end by Universal Automotive and Rebuilding; both in Las Vegas. A new Stayfast convertible top was installed as the finishing touch. The restoration is documented in 160 photographs along with another 100 photographs following the completion of work. Attesting to the quality of the restoration, the car was shown at the 2016 Red Rocks Concours d'Elegance where it received Top 10 of Show honors. In 2019 at the Alfa Romeo Owner's Club Cortile Della Corsa, the Spider earned a Certificate D'Oro with a score of 102.

This Giulietta has been restored in the past and was recently exchanged by a regular customer for another classic car. Both optically and technically this Alfa Romeo is in good condition. What's really nice is that the original Italian maintenance booklet is still present.

As you can see in the photos, this Alfa Romeo Giulietta has beautiful mint green paint, a colour that fits perfectly with an Italian classic car. The bumpers have recently been re-chromed and the rest of the chrome accessories are in good condition. The interior has some light signs of wear and is in a neat, original condition.

The Alfa Romeo Giuletta started as a 2+2 coupe dubbed the Giulietta Sprint, introduced at the 1954 Turin Motor Show. A year later, it was joined by the 4-door Berlina and a few months later by the open two-seat Giuletta Spider with bodywork by Pininfarina. A faster version of the Giuletta Spider was also introduced around this time, dubbed the Giuletta Spider Veloce. It featured dual Weber carburetors, hotter cams, a cold-air intake, and higher-compression pistons which combined took the horsepower numbers up to 91 from the 79 hp of the regular Spider. Only 2,796 Spider Veloces were ever produced. It is believed that only 50 Spider Veloces were built between 1956 and 1957, with 37 built in 1957 and a mere 18 in 1956.
This particular example, Chassis # AR149502264, was delivered new to Hoffman Motor Car Company in New York on December 17th, 1957 with a Rosso exterior and a black leather interior. This Alfa’s documented history begins ten years ago when it was listed for sale by a broker who found it in a barn in Bethel, Connecticut. Despite sitting for an undetermined number of years, it was an overall solid vehicle with minimal amounts of rust.
 
 
The current owner and consignor commissioned a full, bare metal restoration of the car that we helped oversee and was finished in September of this year. The body was done by an Alfa specialist in Connecticut in the original color, while the chrome was handed off to James Abbott, Inc. and DGM Custom Polishing & Finishing of Philadelphia, PA. The engine, transmission, and all corresponding mechanical aspects were fully rebuilt and reconditioned by Proper Noise in Reading, PA. This extensive process left the car looking and running like the day it left the Alfa Romeo factory. It has racked up only 168 miles on the odometer since the completion of the restoration.
 
 
According to the official Certificate of Origin provided by the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum in Arese, Italy, this Spider Veloce is a numbers-matching example with the original 1,300 cc four-cylinder engine still in it. It has original sand-cast Weber carburetors numbered in succession, the correct Marelli generator and Bosch Starter, and the correct badges and decals. The correct Marelli starter for the car was just rebuilt and will be included in the sale or installed prior. Not only is this car an extremely rare example of a beautiful classic Alfa, but its age makes it eligible for The Colorado Grand, Hagerty’s California Mille, and other similar vintage sports car rallies that will allow this car to be enjoyed the way it was meant to be. Both events are extremely exclusive, with The Colorado Grand limiting attendance to sports and sports racing cars manufactured before 1960 while Hagerty’s California Mille is only open to pre-1958 vehicles.
 
 
Upon purchase, the new owner will receive extensive documentation detailing the car’s restoration process, the Certificate of Origin, factory books and service manuals, as well as the original tool kit, jack, and spare.
