Being offered is a very special 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona Spider Scaglietti conversion. This Daytona is finished in Fly Yellow with Nero interior with 22k original miles and is fitted with original Borrani wheels. SN 13353 has a very rich history. According to its Ferrari history report provided by Ferrari Marker Letter, its first owner took delivery in San Francisco, California as a coupe in 1972. In September of 1981, the owner commissioned Ferrari of Los Gatos to send the Daytona back to Italy to have a spider conversion done by Scaglietti. This is very significant as Scaglietti was the one commissioned by Ferrari to convert the original 121 Daytona Spiders.

The original owner cherished this Daytona all the way up until 1999 when the second owner purchased the vehicle. Since that point this Daytona has lived on the east coast sparingly being driven and serviced annually.

Cosmetically the Fly yellow paint and Nero interior is in great condition and shows very well. Mechanically the car has been dialed in and is ready to be driven and enjoyed.

Underneath the incredible body designed by Leonardo Fioravanti lay a tubular steel chassis in which was housed a monstrous 4.4-litre quad-cam V-12; keeping to Ferrari's competition roots, the 352-horsepower mill was lubricated with a dry-sump system. In order to keep an ideal weight balance, a transaxle transmitted power to the rear wheels.rnrnAccording to its Ferrari Classiche Red Book, this Daytona Spider, chassis number 16689, was delivered during August 1973. As noted by marque expert Marcel Massini, just 121 Daytona Spiders were produced by the factory, making it a rare model; this example is the 82nd made. Specified in the wonderful colour combination of Nocciola Metallizzato over Pelle Beige, this Ferrari would have been an astonishing sight on the streets of Ohio in 1973. Its first owner, Robert Lindner of Cincinnati, clearly had good taste, trading in a coupe adorned in identical colours. Ferrari didn't produce a true replacement for the Daytona Spider, and its spiritual successor-the 550 Barchetta-wouldn't arrive until 2000. Clearly enamoured, Lindner kept his Daytona Spider until 1991, by which time it had covered nearly 41,000 miles. At this time, it was imported into Germany.rnrnIn the early 1990s, the Ferrari passed through the hands of two German dealers, one of whom commissioned a full restoration; during this process the odometer was reset to zero. In 1994, the car was purchased by a well-known collector, Dr. Wolf Zweifler, who enjoyed this Daytona Spider at many Ferrari events in the years that followed. After 17 years of ownership, Zweifler sold the car to the consigning owner.rnrnWishing to return this Daytona Spider to its original colours, the owner commissioned marque expert and factory supplier, Carrozzeria Zanasi, to carry out a cosmetic restoration during 2013 and 2014-invoices and photos detailing the work are on file. A front-mounted 4.4-litre 'Colombo' V-12 put out 352 horsepower, and propelled the driver to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds. For the daring, a top speed of 174 mph was on offer. At 3 mph faster than the Lamborghini Miura P400, the Daytona's world-record performance was complemented by the sleek, modern Pininfarina bodywork built by Scaglietti. Early Daytonas featured a Plexiglas nose behind which lay the headlights, a fascinating feature that was phased out in favour of pop-up headlights once around 400 cars had been built. Considering a total of just 158 cars were configured in right-hand-drive, it isn't hard to image just how uncommon a right-hand drive 'Plexi' Daytona is. rnrnWhen The Rt. Hon. Michael Pearson-the Viscount Cowdray-ambled through the halls of Earls Court on the first day of the 1969 Motor Show, he found himself at the Maranello Concessionaires stand. Resonating with him was the Ferrari 365 GTB/4, which an enthralled Pearson decided he had to have. He took on a previously cancelled order the very next day. Allocated to him was chassis 12853, specified with the fabulous exterior colour of Rosso Bordeaux Dino, a Nero Connolly leather interior, and light grey headlining. Optional factory air conditioning was selected at a cost of ?365, bringing the order total to ?9,114. By comparison, a brand-new Austin Mini 850 in October 1969 was priced at just ?569! rnrnChassis 12853 is noted as officially being completed by Ferrari on 3 September 1969. It was the fourth right-hand drive example built, and being such an early car was fitted with the rare and desirable Plexiglas nose. It is believed to have been among the first cars to enter the United Kingdom. On 30 October Pearson received a letter from Maranello Concessionaires stating that industrial action had delayed chassis 12853's delivery. It was agreed that his friend and racing driver Alain de Cadenet would handle collection from Maranello. With strikes continuing, Ferrari informed Maranello Concessionaires on 1 December that red carpets had been fitted to chassis 12853 and they would not fit the black carpet as per the order. The letter further mentions that the Nero seats, as per Pearson's request, would be fitted.rnrnOn 2 February 1970, Ferrari issued the factory invoice to Maranello Concessionaires. 25 days later, the invoice to Mr. Peason was executed and duly paid. Alain de Cadenet was sent to Maranello to collect the Daytona and on 4 March, he had returned to London. On 30 March he arranged the first service along with washing and waxing the car in preparation for delivery to Mr. Pearson.rnrnBy 1980, chassis 12853 was in the hands of The Hon. Patrick Lindsay; upon his passing in January 1986, the car was acquired by Francis Thompson in London. Later the car was owned by the prominent racer Neil Corner, and in late 1987 the car belonged to MSD Motor Company according to invoices on file. On 8 February 1990 the Ferrari was sold at auction. While being delivered to its new owner, the car was involved in an accident, damaging the offside front corner and prompting a full restoration in Italy that was finished three years later. The body colour was changed from Rosso Bordeaux to Rosso Corsa. In July 1998, this 365 GTB/4 was purchased at auction by a Mr. R Elsmore. He retained this Ferrari until March 2001, when it was sold to a private dealer. rnrnBy late 2003, chassis 12853 was in the hands of a Danish resident, and in January 2004 the car was exported to Denmark. After a decade of ownership, the Ferrari returned to the UK and was acquired by the current owner. Under his care, this Daytona has been certified by Ferrari Classiche and the Red Book was issued on 9 December 2015. Invoices on file from the current owner exceed more than ?12,000. rnrnToday, the Ferrari retains its matching-numbers chassis, engine, and transaxle. The car is still finished in Rosso Corsa, and is trimmed with the factory-correct Nero leather seats sitting on red carpet. They chose the latter, and the 365 GTB/4 Daytona was introduced to the world in 1968. Fitted with a 4.4-litre V-12 engine capable of producing 352 horsepower and boasting a 280 km/h top speed, this was one of the fastest production automobiles to ever put rubber to road. Le Mans-winning Ferrari driver and well-known automotive journalist Paul Frere claimed to hit 176 mph in autostrada traffic in 1969. 'It's the engine that makes the music,' he noted, 'the finest music of all to the ears of the enthusiast, and the music he can enjoy in a well-sprung car, fitted with such amenities as electric window lifters, air conditioning.and a really capacious luggage locker-a Grand Touring car par excellence.'rnrnBuilt as a late-specification Daytona in 1973, the model's final year of production, chassis number 16437 was originally finished in Rosso Chiaro Ferrari (20-R-190 Salchi) over a Pelle Nera (VM 8500) interior. It was originally imported to Spain through the country's official Ferrari importer, T.A.Y.R.E of Madrid. According to Ferrari historian Marcel Massini, the Daytona was displayed at the 1973 Barcelona Motor Show; a photo of the car on the stand can be seen in Autopista magazine's report of the show, with chassis number 16437 seen sitting alongside a 365 GT4 2+2 and a 246 Dino GT. First registered in Spain in May of 1973, little is known of the car's early history, although it did remain in Spain throughout the 1990s and was featured on the cover of the Spanish classic car magazine Motor Clasico in its June 1993 issue. Invoices on file from the car's time in Spain in the 1990s show numerous parts purchases from official Ferrari distributors in the UK, suggesting that the car was likely undergoing a restoration at this time. rnrnThe Daytona remained in Spain until 2000, when it was purchased by a well-known Ferrari collector in Bordeaux and exported to France. A number of invoices from his ownership are available to view on file. In 2018, the Ferrari was acquired by the current owner, who immediately commissioned a raft of restoration work. A full repaint was carried out in its original Rosso Chiaro, upholstery work was carried out on the interior, perished rubber components including weatherstripping and engine hoses were replaced, while four new Michelin XWX tyres, fresh spark plugs, and new engine mounts were fitted; accompanying invoices amount to approximately ?60,000. rnrnIn 2022, the Daytona was issued Ferrari Classiche certification, confirming that it is presented today as it was when it departed the factory in 1973. Importantly, the car's certification documents confirm that it retains its original chassis, engine, gearbox, and bodywork. In addition to the Classiche certification, the Daytona is accompanied by numerous invoices from its time in both France and Spain.rnrnUnquestionably one of Ferrari's most iconic automobiles, the 365 GTB/4 Daytona remains a bucket-list purchase for many enthusiasts. For two short years in 1971 and 1972, Ferrari produced the 365 GTC/4, a 2+2 grand tourer based on the chassis and drivetrain of the 365 GTB/4 “Daytona”. Under the hood was a 4.4 L Tipo F 101 AC 000 Colombo V12 engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that put out 335 hp. Rather than a transaxle setup like the Daytona, the 5-speed transmission was bolted directly to the engine, giving the 365 GTC/4 a near-perfect 51:49 weight distribution.
 
 
US export models received three-point seat belts, side markers, and numerous engine modifications to comply with Federal emission standards, including air injection, a carbon, and a different exhaust system which lowered the engine output to 316 hp. Only 505 examples were built over the car’s two-year production span.
 
 
Today, the GTC/4 stands as the more elegant and manageable younger sibling of the infamous Daytona. With a dramatically more street-worthy nature, the GTC/4 has the looks of the much pricier Daytona while being far more pleasant and comfortable to use on a daily basis. Pricing on the GTC/4 has been very solid over the last 5 years while continually trending in a positive direction. Having driven both extensively, we feel that the GTC/4 is overall undervalued given the fantastic V12 experience it provides in addition to its timeless good looks, and we see ample room for increased future value.
 
 
This particular example, 101AC101147745, was originally one of just 15 GTC/4s finished in Verde Medio Niyinsky Italver, a striking bright green color with a Beige Connolly leather interior. It was delivered new in 1971 to official dealer M. Gastone Crepaldi Automobili S.a.s., domiciled at Via San Marco 26 in Milan, Italy. It was sold to its first owner, Mr. Alberto Tollentino, a resident of Milan, Italy. In 1976, it was exported from Italy to the United States at which time it was also repainted dark red first, and then in 1977, repainted again to blue metallic. It was then offered for sale by Ferrari of Los Gatos in Los Gatos, CA, in 1978 and again in 1988 with a reported 18,875 miles on the odometer.
 
 
The car was then purchased by a new owner out of New York and repainted black, and later that same year, it was yet again offered for sale by Berlinetta Motorcars in Huntington Station, NY. Two years later, in 1990, the Ferrari was offered for sale by Tim Stanford Foreign Cars out of Fort Lauderdale, FL, with a reported 19,500 miles on the odometer. It remained in Florida for the next three years, where it was offered for sale by the same owner in 1991, 1992, and 1993 before it eventually exchanged hands in 1993 with 19,847 miles on the odometer.
 
 
Following a six-year ownership in Miami, FL, this GTC/4 was offered for sale in 1999 to a fellow Floridian who owned the car for the next seven years. It made its way to Motorcar Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, FL, on July 2006 and was reportedly freshly serviced before being listed. It was purchased in August by it’s next owner out of Mars, PA, who continued owning the car for the next five years.
 
 
The Ferrari made its rounds on eBay in late 2011 and early 2012. It was described as having undergone a bare metal Rosso Cordoba respray with a new Interior, re-chromed trim, engine detail, freshened camshaft by Web Cam Inc, rebuilt carburetors, starter, alternator, AC system, and brake booster. Sometime in mid to late 2012, it was purchased by its next owner out of Charlotte, NC, which is when the service records on file begin.
 
 
Throughout this ownership, the car was mostly serviced at Automotive International of Charlotte, NC. In August of 2012, it received a brake system flush, cleaned wiper assembly, as well as some minor interior electrical repairs. It returned in October of the same year for further minor services that included an inoperative heat fan and a broken fuel enrichment system. A new window switch and lighter plug were installed along with new headlamps in August of 2013 by the same shop. A new ignition coil was installed in June 2014 to correct an intermittent ignition issue, and new engine mounts were also installed.
 
 
The passenger wiper was repaired in March of 2015 due to a broken wiper arm post shaft, the voltage regulator was rebuilt, and the rear right wheel bearing was replaced. In May of 2015, new ignition boxes were installed along with the corresponding wiring and ignition coils. A couple of small holes in an exhaust were repaired as well.
 
 
The car would exchange hands again in 2018, where it ended up with its current owner and consignor, who is a good friend and enthusiast. Being very knowledgeable about the workings of cars, he completed a number of maintenance items on his own, which included having the brake booster and master cylinder rebuilt, replacing the spark plug wires with factory-correct ones, replacing the fuel and vacuum hoses, balancing and tuning the carbs, and replacing the fluids and oil in 2020 then again in 2022. On June 16th, 2019, this GTC/4 was shown at ‘Eyes on Design,’ in Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, where it won a Blue Ribbon and the Designer’s Choice Award.
 
 
As it sits, this is a well-sorted and very correct example of one of Ferrari’s most underrated V12 grand touring machines. High-speed and long-distance driving are what this car was built for, and its lengthy service history will allow its future owner to enjoy it to its full potential.
 
 
Upon purchase, the new owner will receive the original toolkit, owner’s manual, and all service and history records on file. In addition, we are working on getting a Massini report for the car, which will be uploaded to the listing and included in the sale as well.

Whilst the body was clothed in an extraordinary design by Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina, the 365 GTB/4 would prove to be the last of a line of two seat front-engined V-12 Ferraris with a lineage going back to the beginning of the company.rnrnFioravanti's design was a remarkable departure from soft undulating lines of earlier Ferraris. Whilst producing something to counter Lamborghini's futuristic Miura, the 365 GTB/4's design tread the fine line between staying true to Ferrari's design ethos and breaking convention with something truly original. Today, the Pininfarina body is unmistakeably Ferrari and belies its true age of 55 years.rnrnDespite looking quite unlike its predecessor, the 365 GTB/4 was directly developed from the 275 GTB/4. Two prototypes left the factory showing the evolution between the two models but underneath the skin was a similar chassis. Despite the engine increasing in capacity by over a litre, the quad-cam timing, six twin-choke Weber carburettors and dry-sump lubrication remained, all features derived from Ferrari's dominant success at the race circuit. The 275's outstanding weight distribution remained with the continued use of the transaxle.rnrnWhen the 365 GTB/4 was launched it was one of the most powerful cars ever produced, designed to easily cross continents at outrageous speeds. This was typified by Dan Gurney and Brock Yates claiming the first Cannonball Run victory in a 365 GTB/4, charging from New York City to Los Angeles in just under 36 hours. Away from illegal road racing, the 365 GTB/4 was developed by Ferrari for Group IV GT racing. Results were tremendous, as the race-prepared berlinettas captured 4th overall at the 1971 Tour de France, 5th overall and 1st in class at the 1972 24 Hours of Le Mans, 1st and 2nd overall in the 1972 Tour de France, two further class wins at Le Mans in 1973 and 1974, and at the 24 Hours of Daytona a 2nd overall and class win in the 1973 running and a further class win there in 1975. So potent was the Daytona Competizione that one even achieved 2nd overall at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1979, over a decade after the model was introduced. This extraordinary race record secured the 365 GTB/4's reputation amongst the greatest GT competition cars ever to compete on track, reminding the motorsport world of Ferrari's dominance in endurance racing with the 250 SWB, 250 GTO, and 250 LM.rnrnThis 365 GTB/4, chassis number 16331, is one of only 158 Daytonas produced in RHD. Delivered in February 1973 the car was originally ordered by Mr. Heryet through Maranello Concessionaires but he cancelled his order, so the Daytona went to its first owner the Honorable John Dawnay, known by his title as Viscount Downe. Dawnay was a fascinating character who entered cars like Aston Martin DP214, Nimrod, a Ferrari 250 GTO and Ford GT40 into major sportscar races. This 365 GTB/4 was ordered in the stunning colour combination of Argento Auteuil over a Nuvola leather interior, with several desirable options including Cromodora wheels, a bumper bar and air conditioning. rnrnShortly after registering the car, Dawnay sold this Daytona through Maranello Concessionairs to Sir Raymond Johnstone CBE, a well-known Scottish businessman. Johnstone kept his Daytona until 1980 when it passed into the hands of another well-known car enthusiast, David Lomas. During Lomas' ownership, this Daytona shared garage space with a 250 SWB, 275 GTB/4, a Jaguar C-type and D-type, and an Aston Martin DB4GT. Such was Lomas' care for this Daytona that he kept a logbook of every journey, mileage and notes. Along with the logbook is a significant amount of invoices from workshops such as Graypaul and DK Engineering, whilst the outstanding bare metal respray by RS Panels carried out in 1993 is fully documented as well. Lomas passed away in 1998 and his last note in the logbook clearly shows how much he enjoyed this Ferrari, 'Back at Moss Cottage, car perfect.'.rnrnThis Daytona formed part of a private collection until 2007 and it only covered 900 miles during this ownership. Between 2007 and 2010 it was owned by Gareth Richardson before passing to Ian Tandy and then Chris Evans before moving into the ownership of Neil Ewin. Between 2011 and 2017 it was maintained by Italia Autosport of West Yorkshire, with prior invoices from SMDG Performance Cars and DK Engineering.rnrnSince 2017, this 365 GTB/4 has been part of a significant collection and is offered with its original books and pouch, along with an original jack roll. This 365 GTC4 was originally finished in Oro Kelso over Nero Cogolo leather interior. Originally delivered new in 1972 through Luigi Chinetti Motors in Greenwich CT. Some time in the 90s the car was refinished to the black you see here today. Equipped with correct Borrani Wire Wheels. The 365 GTC4 was produced at the same time as the legendary 365 Daytona. The 365 GTC/4 were built and produced at the Pininfarina and limited to just 505 total units over a 2 year production run. Equipped with a Colombo V12 displacing 4.4L and making a stout 316 bhp. The biggest difference in this V12 from the Daytona was the use of side-draft Weber carbs which allowed for a more sloping hood line. Another difference from the Daytona was the use of a transmission bolted to the engine vs a transaxle.
